Esta pesquisa analisa o desenvolvimento da Educação Matemática escolar na Rússia. Também, examina as mudanças ocorridas ao longo do século passado, com uma ênfase especial na reforma dos anos 1970. Os autores concluem que a escola está em constante procura de um compromisso (Observação. da tradutora: entre a quantidade de conteúdo e qualidade de aprendizagem), e que uma abordagem pragmática na seleção de conteúdos de matemática para integrarem o currículo vem sendo utilizada nos últimos anos.
